ORRA Core

Three layers, one grip, ninety seconds.

Concept retail

$299

Form

75 mm diameter x 15 mm thick disc

Stage

Technical data package drafted

Handheld bio-electrical interface

The Core started as a literal question. Bill was holding a wireless charging pad and asked why, if a phone can be charged through a coil, a person cannot be. The honest answer is that we have no receiving coil and an induction field strong enough to move our ions would cook tissue before it did anything useful. But the question survives being answered, because there are three things that reach a nerve from outside the skin, and nobody had put them in the same enclosure on the same clock.

What came out is a 75 mm disc you hold between both palms. The palms are not sentimental: they carry one of the densest sensory maps in the body, they are wired to the somatosensory cortex through the median and ulnar nerves, and they are the one place you can apply cold, light and a magnetic field at once without a strap.

The size is set by physics, not by taste. Shrink the Peltier and it heat-soaks instead of staying cold. Shrink the coil and it needs more current to reach the same depth, which the cell cannot give. Sixty millimetres by twelve is the floor, and below that the device stops doing the thing it exists to do.

The ORRA Core: a matte black anodised disc 75 mm across and 15 mm thick, with a micro-perforated top face, a cyan light seam around its rim, and red emitters glowing through from inside.
The Core. Seventy-five millimetres across, fifteen deep, and it does not attach to you.

Layer stack, component list with manufacturer part numbers, functional block diagram and firmware mode table are written. No prototype has been built.

Architecture

What is in it

ORRA Core carries 6 functional layers. Every named part is a real manufacturer part number, chosen once for the family and reused, so one qualification covers every unit that uses it.

Contact

Medical-grade thermally conductive silicone skin, ISO 10993 class

Carries the bio-impedance contact points

Photonic

12x high-power SMD LEDs — 6x 660 nm red, 6x 810 nm near-infrared

OSRAM GH CSSRM4.24 / SFH 4715S on a ring MCPCB

Thermal

40 x 40 mm Peltier thermoelectric module on ceramic substrate

TEC1-04903, driven bipolar so it heats or cools

Induction

Flat copper Litz-wire pancake coil, 50 turns

1.8 mT at the surface

Control

Nordic nRF52840 MCU, TI DRV8833 H-bridge, TI CSD18504Q5A coil driver

0.2 mm ferrite sheet isolates the coil from the board

Power

2500 mAh Li-Po (custom flat LP604040) + TI BQ25895 PMIC + Qi receiver

The Core, exploded. Six layers in 15 mm.
The ORRA Core exploded into its seven layers: anodised top, silicone contact membrane, twelve-emitter photonic board, ceramic Peltier plate, copper Litz pancake coil, control board, and the base holding the cell and the charging coil.
Seven layers inside fifteen millimetres. The copper pancake is the coil the whole device is built around.

Source drawing

The sheet this page was built from

Everything above was read off one working drawing. It is published here whole, annotations included, so the specification and its source can be checked against each other rather than taken on trust.

Dimensioned engineering blueprint of the ORRA Core: 75 mm diameter, 15 mm tall, with each layer called out against a millimetre scale.
Working concept sheet from the ORRA development thread, published whole and unretouched. Open it to read the annotations at full size. They are working notes rather than verified findings, and several state things this site does not claim: nothing is patent pending, no protein simulation has been run, and no certification named on any sheet is held. What is true and what is not.

Honest position

What we are not saying

ORRA Core is a general wellness concept. It is not a medical device, it has not been evaluated by the FDA, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. No unit has been manufactured, no certification listed on this site is held, and no human data of any kind exists.

The concept retail price of $299 is a design target set against a bill of materials. It is not an offer and there is nothing to buy.
