ORRA / Pricing
What it should cost, and why.
Concept pricing. Nothing in the ORRA family has been manufactured or sold; these are the retail points the design targets, set against a bill of materials, not against a quote from a factory.
| Unit | What it is | Build concept | Concept retail |
|---|---|---|---|
| ORRA Core | Handheld bio-electrical interface | $116 | $299 |
| ORRA Node | Sternum-worn pendant | not yet costed | $199 |
| ORRA Dome | Structured cap | $125 | $399 |
| ORRA Neural Suit | Short-sleeve compression top | not yet costed | $499 |
| ORRA Neural LS | Long-sleeve compression top | not yet costed | $599 |
| ORRA Shorts | Compression shorts | $116 | $349 |
| ORRA Pants | Full-leg compression | $135 | $499 |
| ORRA Gloves | Carpal interface, touchscreen-through | $72 | $249 |
| ORRA Strides | Recovery socks | $55 | $199 |
The reasoning
Three things set these numbers
One
The bill of materials, at the volume we would actually order
$116 for the Core at 100 units. The enclosure is over half of it, because CNC aluminium at that volume is expensive and injection-mould tooling is not worth its cost until several thousand units.
Two
The fixed cost of becoming legal
Roughly $30,000 of certification before a single unit can be sold, and it does not scale down. That is a cost per programme, not a cost per unit, and it has to be recovered somewhere.
Three
What the category already charges
Premium PEMF mats, red-light panels and recovery wearables sit between roughly $300 and $500. ORRA is priced inside that band rather than above it, because a first product from an unknown brand does not get to lead on price.
Weave area is what drives cost in the worn line, not electronics. That is why the long sleeve is the most expensive unit in the family and the socks are the cheapest, even though both carry the same control module.
Capital
What it takes to get to a first five hundred units
| Phase | Work | Order of magnitude |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering | Schematic, layout, mechanical CAD, first five prototypes, firmware v0.1 | $15,000 |
| Compliance | The eight standards, golden samples, a technical file | $25,000 |
| Pre-launch | Photography, site, seeding units, storefront | $10,000 |
| Production | First 500 units at roughly $95 landed | $47,500 |
| Launch | Logistics, fulfilment, support | $7,500 |
Roughly $105,000 to a first five hundred customers. Order-of-magnitude estimates built from component and service pricing, not from quotes. The compliance line is the one most likely to be understated, and the production line moves entirely on what a real factory quote comes back at.
